Changes In Our Meeting Schedule

We've changed our meeting time and schedule!  We begin at 6:30pm, still on the 4th Monday (except Memorial Day week.)  We are going to avoid all the rotten weather in the winter (we hope!) by meeting during the summer months and not in the winter months.  We decided that since about as many of our members travel in the winter as the summer, the school calendar should not rule our group.  We have had to cancel meetings because of bad weather more than once, so we are going to try this for a while and see how we like it.  Come join us this summer if you can, and in the fall and spring as well, of course.

I'm sure you've all been to the NEW, larger and much nicer premises of Sew Creative by now.  If not, they are in the building directly north of their previous location in Sutter Place Mall.  Their new classroom is where our meetings are held.  Join us!!

Our next meeting will be June 24th at 6:30pm.  We will be cutting our mittens for our regular charity sewing project, Mittens for HeadStart/Excite! preschool classes.  We will be taking mitten kits home to sew over the summer so we can get them to the classrooms next fall.  This is a fun project, and you can be very creative with it.

Sounds like a good program tonight. It's going to be on felting by some of our experienced felters. There will be supplies and tools available so that we can try it too!

See you there!

September 27, 2010

The first meeting of our new year is this Monday, Sept. 27th, at 7pm at the Sew Creative Classroom at Sutter Place Mall. Please see the map on the right-hand sidebar of this blog for complete directions.

As we have for the last several years, the first meeting will include some time for members and guests to enjoy some desserts, and catch up on our activities over the summer. We will also have a short program.

Once again, we have NOT raised our dues. They remain an unbelievable bargain at only $15/year. Our Treasurer will be accepting dues at this meeting, or you may mail them. It's important that we know what our budget is as soon as possible, so the committee can plan activities for the year.

May 24, 2010

Our last regular meeting of the year is this Monday at 7pm at Sew Creative's classroom, as usual. Our program should be very interesting. It will be

Inside Your Purse

Elizabeth Meyer will show us how to customize and organize our existing purses with an insert which holds your essentials, and moves easily from purse to purse.

A bonus project will be making a makeup bag/coin purse with a steel tape measure. I think this sounds like great fun, and something we can all use. Who doesn't need a more organized bag?

See you Monday!

Nearby Sewing Events

I've just been notified by the Omaha Sewing Guild (see their link in our sidebar) that they will be hosting Linda MacPhee on September 19 & 20, for both a Hands-On Workshop and a Trunk Show. It sounds like great fun, and Linda has lots to show and teach. Some of her specialties are Slinky fabric sewing and patterns, and Coat sewing and patterns. Lots more details at the link above.

They have their programs, etc. listed on their site, as we do, so take a look and see if there's something interesting you'd like to attend. I'm sure we're welcome to visit, as they are to visit us. With sewing events few and far between, we need to take advantage of what's available near us.

They also do Charity Sewing, as do we, and we are invited to join them at their next charity sewing event. Here's the message from Beverly, President of the Omaha ASG Chapter:

Glad to see your group does charity sewing, too! The Omaha Sewing Guild has a special day in January for a whole group meeting. Join us January 23rd, 2010.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?
